Default New Guy New Rig

Figured I'd introduce myself. Been into RC off and on since 1997. I just picked up an Axial scx10 a few hours ago. Past rigs. AE RC10T2, Kyosho Gas Truck, Kyosho nitro sedan, XTM MMT and of course the Nylint 1/6 crawler. Current rigs AE RC10gt, EF Sabre heli, and now the Axial.

The Nylint crawler I found was more fun than even real off roading. So here's where I'm at. Starting off with the Fresh scx and 92 Cherokee body to build a mini version of what I'd like my 1:1 scaler to become over the next few years.

The 1/1

The new project

Some updates from today

I'm pretty happy with her stock capabilities. I think I'm gonna do a leaf spring conversion to give her a suspension setup like the real deal.

good lookin rig man! i can tell you one thing, going to leaf springs will limit it's abilities. ive never owne a leaf sprung truck that wheeled as well as 3link rigs. going to a 4 link rear and hand bros 3 link front is the best ive seen. take a look at my SCX-scout build thread, that fucker climbs like a comp rig!

where were those pics taken? i dont recognize the rock. kinda makes me sad to admit that after 5yrs of crawling and scouting for crawl spots...

Rig looks good. With how light the scx10 is I wouldn't do leafs. I think you would be disappointed with the way it preforms.

I do not recognize that rock at all. I guess there still is spots to find here.

I didn't figure the leafs would help much for performance. Just scale factor. The spot is a little place in the Summerlin area. It takes roughly 3-5 miles of off roading to get there it's probably nothing compared to the spots you guys already go which I haven't been to yet myself.

define "off roading" we cruise down dirt roads for crawl spots regularly but we don't have any crawl spots that actually require 4 wheel drive to get to. (damn i miss having a 4x4 rig )

Looks like it could be a nice comp spot when we can get one going.

Welcome to the group.

Nice looking rig and I would stay away from the leafs for the same reasons stated. Unless you want a shelf queen.

Send me the details for your spot there. I will add it to the listing.

Nothing serious. It is not somewhere you would be getting to in a car but something 2wd with some clearance like a stock Tacoma prerunner could do it. Low slung stock 2wd trucks might get a little punishment.

Last half mile getting there the conditions are similar to what you might see in the first half of Rocky Gap Road/Potato Ridge at Red Rock easy, but not for cars.
